Thermal relief valves (also known as Pressure Relief valves) relieves the over-pressure of a liquid or gas in a piping or filter vessel system due to thermal expansion (temperature rises).  When a liquid is blocked in a pipe or filter vessel and exposed to sunlight, the thermal relief valve will relieve any potential over pressuring risks.
